The Vice-President is member of the Board of the EWRS. The elected members of the Board are: the President, Vice-President, Secretary, Scientific Secretary and Treasurer. These officers form the Executive Committee (ExCom) and are responsible for the day-to-day management of the Society.
The Vice-President is Chairperson of the Scientific Committee, which consists of President, Vice-President, Scientific Secretary, and the coordinators of the Working Groups. The Vice-President is involved in the organisation of the Society’s Symposia in cooperation with the Scientific Secretary, the Chairman of the Programme Committee (ProCom) and the Chairman of the Local Organisation Committee (LocCom)
After a period of 2 years, the Vice-President becomes the President of the EWRS. The President is the Chairperson of the Board, which, next to the elected members, consists of the Immediate Past-President, the chairperson of the Editorial Board of Weed Research and four Additional Members.
After two years, the President stays member of the Board for another two years in the capacity of immediate Past-President.
The Treasurer is elected for a period of four years. After this term, he/she is eligible for re-election for one more term. The Treasurer is one of the elected members of the Board and in this capacity member of the Executive Committee and the Foundation Board.
The Treasurer is responsible for orderly book keeping, keeps a view on the financial situation of the Society and prepares the budget for the upcoming year.
The Secretary is elected for a period of four years. After this term, he/she is eligible for re-election for one more term. The Secretary is one of the elected members of the Board and in this capacity member of the Executive Committee and the Foundation Board.
The Secretary reports on the meetings of the Board, ExCom, the Foundation Board and the General Assembly. The Secretary is also member of the Election Committee, and responsible for the external communication of the Board.
Tasks and duties of the Board:
All three positions have a strong involvement in the Board. The tasks and duties of the Board are described in the Constitution of the EWRS under article IX (Board).
